Honeybees in Loghives

Log hives mimic the natural abode of the native Irish honeybee, which would be cavities in trees. This time of year we prepare our selves for the oncoming season by hollowing out logs and turn them into natural abodes for honeybees. We are working on a conservation project in Inishowen where we try to erect 1 loghive per square kilometre. As Inishowen is about 300km2 there is still plenty of work to do. We are always on the look out for logs that can be turned in to natural homes for our native bees.
