We at Boomtreebees constantly look at the natural situation trying to understand what is is about these natural cavities that influences the health of the wild honeybee colonies so much. What factors play a role?
When ever we get the chance to inspect a tree cavity we would look at the width of the cavity, height, wall structure and thickness, presence of fungi, location of the cavity etc. etc. so we can constantly re evaluate our hive design. Every time we see a cavity in a tree it is unique, it is a one off. And we try to create this uniqueness when we make the log hives.
